PESHAWAR: Adviser to Prime Minister Engineer Ameer Muqam has asked that when would Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan talk about the Khyber Leaks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) instead of Panama leaks.
Addressing a gathering of Eidul Fitr at a local hotel in Gulbahar, Peshawar on Sunday, he said that the director general of Ihtesab Commission had resigned from his position due to rampant corruption in KP. He said that the PTI chairman had claimed that his government in the province would construct 360 small dams but those were mere tall claims and lip service.
He said that Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) former chairman Shakil Durrani was allegedly removed from the service after identifying corruption in the provincial department. He said, “PTI wants accountability only on Panama leaks while PM Nawaz wants to make all and sundry accountable for corruption done in Pakistan.” He added that this was what not acceptable to PTI chief and his party leaders.
He also criticised the billion tree tsunami project of the PTI government. He added that the director of the project was allegedly demoted to the position of assistant director after pointing towards corruption in the project. He said that the PTI government had announced to introduce change in the province after coming into power.
“They have miserably failed as people are not getting health facilities at the hospitals and quality education at the schools,” he lamented. The situation of the local government was also not very different from other departments in the province, he said.
“Before elections the PTI chief claimed to devolve power on the grassroots level, but in reality after coming into power they clipped the wings of the local government representatives and cut development funds.” He said that the results of PK-8 by-election were evident of the fact that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would take over power in the province.
