LAHORE: Police on Tuesday presented the key suspect in Parveen Rehman’s murder case, Amjad Hussain, before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi.
Parveen Rehman, a renowned social worker who devoted her life to the development of the impoverished neighbourhoods across the country, was shot dead in a targeted attack near her office in Karachi’s Orangi Town on March 13, 2013.
Amjad Hussain, a member of Tehreek-e-Taliban, was arrested from Manghopir area of Karachi by police on October 24.
Police claimed that he had confessed to his involvement in Parveen’s murder during the investigation.
Authorities have also claimed to nab three other suspects, Pappu Kashmiri, Imran Swati and Rahim Swati, named in the case.
Rejecting a request for extension in the suspect’s physical remand, the court ordered that he be sent to jail immediately on judicial remand.
The court also directed the authorities to present progress report of the murder case.
