Inspector General of Frontier Corps (IGFC) Major General Abid Latif Saturday said that number of checkposts has been reduced from 35 to only four in South Waziristan Agency (SWA), adding that all the required facilities would be ensured at these checking points.
During a visit to South Waziristan, the IGFC said that reduction in number of check posts is an evidence of peace that has been restored in the area following matchless sacrifices by security forces and Mehsud tribesmen. Maj Gen Latif said that concerted efforts were underway to restore communication network in the area, adding that work on de-mining was in progress. He said that all the infrastructure facilities would be rehabilitated besides construction of hotels and restaurants in the area.He said that these facilities would bring positive change in lifestyle of the residents. The IGFC said that work on Karama-Kaniguram is in full swing and construction of main and link road in Mehsud area would start soon.
